Reconstruction of a historic aircraft is always a long-distance run. Our Messerschmitt is no exception. In recent months, our priority is the engine, Argus As 10 C. The problem is that it is a German-made engine from the Second World War. The first complication is that it is a problem to get any spare parts for these engines (unlike American production). The second problem is the quality of the materials used. During the war, Germany had a problem with access to raw materials and often used substitutes. However, Ondra and Jarda Anýž continue step by step. They currently have both carburetors in their workshop.

We wish you all the best until the new year 2022. We will try to continue all our existing projects in cooperation with our friends, and we believe that we will start new ones as well.

The independence of Czechoslovakia was declared on October 28, 2018, 103 years ago. We are honored that the Točná Aviation Museum has chosen our Avia BH 5 and tonight it is ceremoniously lit behind the windows of this unique museum.

We also planned a memorial flight for today, unfortunately the weather was not very good for us.

We have an engine in the workshop that will power our Messerschmitt in the future. After unpacking from the original shipping box, it was confirmed that it was stored in the condition as it stopped flying in 1956. We do not yet know the exact date of manufacture. The engine has serial number 4447609 and apparently was manufactured between 1939 and 1940. It first underwent factory repairs in 1941 and the second time on March 8, 1946. We do not know when it was installed on the aircraft after 1946, but ten years after the second factory repair stopped be used and saved. There will be a lot of work on it, but we believe that the result will be worth it.

We have another milestone here. Once we’re sure our GMC is braking, has “fresh” oil and gasoline, it’s time to try it on the road. So far, the impressions are perfect. Not only does everything newly done work, but the shift also works beautifully. So far, we’ve traveled 46 miles, and that’s enough for the day. Now he is back in the workshop and Honza and Tomáš have to throw themselves into small tin work. When we get new tires from David, we’ll try it off the road.
