Schleicher ASK 21
The ASK 21 glider serves two complementary roles within our club. First, it is a key part of our youth and educational flight training program, introducing girls and boys to the fundamentals of piloted flight and preparing them to one day operate the historic aircraft we restore, maintain, and fly in order to preserve the legacy of aviation craftsmanship, technical skill, and the dedication of those who came before us. In this aircraft, the traditions of the past help shape the pilots of the future.
Second, under the guidance of our instructors, the ASK 21 makes the experience of flight accessible to individuals who, despite personal challenges, continue to pursue their aviation goals and fly without limitations imposed by circumstance.
From a technical perspective, the ASK 21 is a two-seat training glider capable of both thermal soaring and aerobatic flight. Our aircraft is equipped with a factory-installed, fully certified modification that allows paraplegic pilots to operate the glider in the pilot-in-command position with full functionality.
