The future heart of our Messerschmit is the perfect time capsule
We have an engine in the workshop that will power our Messerschmitt in the future. After unpacking from the original shipping box, it was confirmed that it was stored in the condition as it stopped flying in 1956. We do not yet know the exact date of manufacture. The engine has serial number 4447609 and apparently was manufactured between 1939 and 1940. It first underwent factory repairs in 1941 and the second time on March 8, 1946. We do not know when it was installed on the aircraft after 1946, but ten years after the second factory repair stopped be used and saved. There will be a lot of work on it, but we believe that the result will be worth it.
